Why “Hella” Basque?

According to Urban Dictionary, “hella”:

Originated from the streets of San Francisco in the Hunters Point neighborhood. It is commonly used in place of “really” or “very” when describing something.

In practice: The Fillmore is hella better than the Mission. Thank God LA is hella far away.
I chose to name this blog Hella Basque for two reasons:
1. To emphasize its aim to discuss all things Basque.
2. To highlight its American and, more specifically, San Francisco Bay Area roots.

“Hella” is more slang than swear, so by no means does the name of this blog mean to offend you. It’s just a fun way to juxtapose youthful American lingo with Basque traditions.
